Take it off or leave it on? Hardware Removal

news

Finding the right balance between streamlining the install, managing risks, saving time, and maximizing profits is key. Every job is different, and getting it right can make all the difference.

The 5-Minute Rule
A simple yet effective rule is the 5-minute rule. If a piece of hardware can be removed in under 5 minutes, go ahead and take it off. But if it takes longer, it’s usually best to leave the hardware on and use smart wrapping techniques to work around it. This approach keeps the job efficient and minimizes risk.

Knifeless Tape

Using 3M Knifeless Tape in unconventional ways can help you leave hardware on while still achieving precise coverage. This technique works particularly well for items like headlights, moon roofs, and other hardware that may break or be difficult to remove. It’s a great way to avoid damage while maintaining high-quality wraps.

The Tuck and Cut 2 Technique

Developed by The Wrap Institute, the Tuck and Cut 2 technique is designed to get the film deep into tight gaps without stressing the material or removing hardware. It’s especially useful for window moldings and bumper gaps. For this technique, we highly recommend the Wrap Axe for its precision and safety, ensuring professional results every time.
