The client of this Maybach wants to turn the factory black gloss paint into a satin black. For the most part it's a straight forward install. However, the side emblems on the passenger/driver side create a unique problem. The emblems have LED lights behind them and the wires are soldered on. One option is to leave the emblem on and feed in tiny pieces of satin black. This would take a long time and the end result would be less than ideal. The option you see in this video is a smart work around as it's essentially an inlay/overlay. Be sure to pay attention to the precision of the 3M Knifeless Tape and the angle in cut Justin uses on the top of the emblem to get the perfect coverage once the emblem is installed.
