TWI Interior: 2.0 Frosted Film Installs - Triple S For The Win

This is an updated version of the traditional method we have shown for installing wet apply window films like frosted, etched and vinyl. The overall flow is the same as traditional with the two main differences are using Triple S and only water as the slip. Normally, a soapy solution is recommended to allow the film to slide on the window which has a high surface energy. This makes the install easy yet the finishing much longer as the film needs 15 to 30 minutes to properly set up on the edges before cutting. This slows down the install and creates a unique workflow. With this 2.0 version, Triple S is applied to the window during the prep phase and a focused degrease of 70% IPA on the edges. Then, during the install, only water is used. Since Triple S is on the main surface area, the film slips easy so the install is still straight forward. The big change is on the edges which seal right away thanks to only using water. This means cutting can be done right away which lowers install times drastically. Our friends at Lettering Express in Oklahoma City used this method and Charlie said it cut their time on a large installation down from 8 minutes per window to 3 minutes. This is huge. We hope this works for you as well!
