Wrapping Up July

August 1, 2016
The Wrap Institute Newsletter

Hello everyone. A busy month for The Wrap Institute so let’s get to the videos released in July:

This month, you will see some improvements to the site after months of hard work behind the scenes. Better functionality and flow on the front end, and more analytics on the back end which will lead to more detailed videos on specific topics so look for even better videos in the months to come.

August will feature an amazing new technique on how to wrap door handles entirely in one piece with almost zero tension. A series on wrapping a classic car – Nash Airflyte – will release this month. A great look on how to prep an old paint job and wrap big, big curves.

In early September, I will be shooting at TWI headquarters in Dallas so please be sure to submit any video requests on the Forum so we can add them.  I have a list of around 60 video planned already. Thanks as always for being a member and keep on wrapping on.

Cheers,

Wrapping Up June

July 1, 2016 Issue
The Wrap Institute Newsletter

I hope everyone had a productive June. Here are the videos released last month:

Wrapscon was a huge success from beginning to end. I would like to thank our sponsors for the show: Avery Dennison, 3M, LLumar, Mutoh, Shield Laminator, SOTT, Image One Impact, Orafol, Arlon, Hexis, Alltak, and Teckwrap. We had great support from several super pro installers: John Duever, Jeremy Conner, Daren Merkle, Steve Hargattai, Ken Tonn, Russ Voigt, Chad Parrish, Matt Gonzales and Carlos Estrada. A special thanks to Cassandra Pate (no relation) from The Wrap Institute who did an amazing job organizing the booth before and after the show.

The video line up for July is very exciting, one of the most interesting mixes we have created so far. A great combination of technical videos as well as unique install tips. I hope you enjoy.

Lastly, I would like to mention that The Wrap App is now a fully web-based site which means that it works with Android. This is an essential pricing tool for any type of install, particularly vehicles, with over 8,500 templates in the database. Also, they now offer plans for multiple users so a sales team can work together seamlessly.

Thanks as always for being a member of The Wrap Institute and I wish you happy wrapping for the next month.

Cheers,
Justin

Wrapping Up May

June 1, 2016 Issue
The Wrap Institute Newsletter

Hello everyone. I hope the wrap world is treating you well. Let’s get right to it – here are the videos released on The Wrap Institute this month:

As you may have noticed, three of the videos were detailed overviews on how to take the hardware off a Hummer. I would appreciate feedback on whether this type of video is helpful. If so, this Hardware XL series can quickly expand. Leave your thoughts in the comments section below the video.

Wrapscon started today and all the demos will be going live on the site starting June 6th. I think The Wrap Institute booth and demos really represent where the industry is at right now: ppf, tint, walls, floors, full print car wraps, color change, Di-Noc, Wrapify and much more.  Also during the show there is a full list of new videos to shoot – updating tool videos, printing on colorchange/chrome, properties of the brands and much more.

Exciting months ahead so I hope that you continue to never stop learning and keep on expanding this great industry.

Cheers,
Justin

Wrapping Up April

I hope everyone had a great month and the squeegee has got that money making flow.

Here are the videos released this month:

From May 9-11 I will be at The Wrap Institute HQ in Dallas, filming new videos. I have a solid list already but if you have a request please visit the Forum before May 5th so I have time to set up the material and location if necessary.

The details for the booth at Wrapscon are all set. I’m very excited about the lineup for this year and appreciate all the support of the sponsors: Avery Dennison, 3M, Mutoh, LLumar, Shield Laminators, Orafol, Arlon, Alltak, SOTT, Image One Impact, Teckwrap and The Wrap App.

Seeing the demos live will be extra special, but know that everything will be recorded and posted on The Wrap Institute. Thanks as always to NBM for their support at Wrapscon.

As everyone can tell, the industry is getting busier and busier with new materials and techniques coming out every day. At The Wrap Institute, we are committed more than ever to keeping the Video Library and the Resource page as cutting edge as possible, so look for new series and links to be appearing in the next couple of months.

Cheers,
Justin

It's Our Two-Year Anniversary [A Note from Justin]

January 1, 2016 marked the two-year anniversary of The Wrap Institute. I would like to begin by thanking all the members and sponsors for their support. When TWI launched, it began with only 80 videos at roughly six hours with the big question: will people would want to join a streaming video platform? Well, thanks to all the members in 60+ countries, it is clear that TWI is something that has helped get beginners up to speed and take advanced installers to that next level. The positive response has really pressed myself and everyone at TWI to keep on learning ourselves and pushing boundaries. I am very happy to say that TWI now has 556 videos at almost 74 hours with many more already in the pipeline.

2015 was a busy one with over 300 new videos added. Some of the big series that really stand out are: Knifeless Tech Systems, Full Print Car Wrap Series, Two-Tone Week, Cold Pre-Stretch from Koji Yamaguchi, custom tool videos with Frank Fellers (exclusively on their site), a week with Joffrey van der Jagt, Wrapscon, 54-minute color change speedwrap at Jim Miller’s and the 22-minute full print SEMA speedwrap

I also really appreciated the leaders in the industry taking the time to be interviewed: John Duever, Garry van der Breghe, Adam Sumner and Austin Smith.

I want to give a special thanks to my partner Scott Bechtel, owner of Car Wrap City, for all his help with the site. Cassandra Pate has done a great job with the IG posts along many other tasks, and Tanya Marcum always does spot on work with design and marketing projects. I also want to thank the lead installers at Car Wrap City – Carlos, Xavier, Alberto and Jellybean for their help during the year on the major shoots.

2016 already has some great projects in the works with a focus on paint protection film, a 20-25 video color change series (by request) and lots of videos on pricing with the help of The Wrap App and John Duever. Wrapscon will be super exciting with lots of big plans in the works (stay tuned), and it looks like SEMA will have some special events that will be featured on TWI.

I want to thank all the sponsors who help make TWI run smoothly: Mutoh, Avery Dennison, Fellers, Knifeless Tech Systems, Polyalto, Teckwrap, Monkey Strips and Croftgate USA.

As always, if you have a request for a new video always feel free to post it in the Forum, or shoot a message on Facebook or Instagram. Also starting in January, TWI will be backing the launch of www.wrapwear.com which will feature custom pants and shorts made specifically for wrapping. I think they are really special and will help make wrapping even easier and more professional. All TWI members will get a discount so keep an eye out for that in the coming weeks.

Thanks again for your support and never stop learning!

Cheers,
Justin

Send Us a Video, Win a Limited Edition Tee

We want to hear from our members - how has The Wrap Institute helped your technique, quality, pace or business?

Send us a short video explaining what you like about the site, how your wrapping or wrap business has improved, a tip or trick you've learned, or anything else you love about TWI. We'll choose 8-10 submissions to feature on the site. If your video is chosen, we'll send you a FREE No Bleeding No Wrapping tee! Here's what you do:

  1. Take a video explaining what you love about TWI in 15 seconds or less. If you are using an iPhone, shoot the video holding the phone sideways (the goal is to get the shot horizontal).
  2. Send the video to media@wrapinstitute.com. Include your name, shop name (if applicable), TWI username, social network handles and t-shirt size.
  3. Watch our for an email from us - we'll let you know if your video will be featured!

December 1 Newsletter

I hope everyone had a great November and that you enjoyed the videos released this month.

New videos in November:

SEMA turned out to be better than expected with lots of installers on hand as well as great wraps being completed during the show. There are already some very cool plans in the works for next year so look out for upcoming details.

Knifeless Tech Systems videos will continue into December as they are launching their new CPR and PPF lines which I think will be major game changers for both the wrap and PPF industries.

There are around 60 new videos that have been shot and edited so, as has been the trend for the past two months, look for a brand new video to be released every day during the work week for the foreseeable future. We have scheduled new videos to post at midnight Central time U.S. so enjoy it with your morning coffee or lunch, depending on where you are in the world.

Thanks as always for being a member and we hope that 2015 finishes strong with a touch of relaxation with friends and family over the holidays.

Cheers
Justin

September 1 Newsletter

Hello everyone – a great month of videos for August, which is just a taste of what is in store for the fall line up:

  • Joffrey van der Jagt - marketing, Knifeless Tape, headlight removal and custom color-change tips.
  • TWI Exclusive - 54-minute color-change speedwrap in real time.
  • Chrome tips, full print install tips, and more.

18 New Videos added in August:

As you may have noticed in your library, you now have access to unlimited PDF downloads. Currently, you can download pre-inspection sheets, an installation overview checklist (a game changer for sign shops and installers) and a client care file for the rearview mirror (this PDF was provided by TWI member Guy Langevin from Ask Guy in Canada) in seven languages. More to come in the coming months!

The fall line up is going to really take the TWI video platform to another level, starting with a realtime color-change speedwrap with top installers from MOB (Masters of Branding) and a week with Joffrey van der Jagt from Pro Wraps. Late September will have a full week of full print install tips, and we have more than 80 new videos in the pipeline to round out the following weeks, including an overview of SEMA to bookshelf it. Exciting stuff!

The site is streaming faster than ever due some key tweaks behind the scenes with a lot of new changes to the site in the coming months. Thanks as always for being a member and keep wrapping it up.

Cheers,
Justin
