Justin's April Overview

Hello everyone – I hope you had a nice April and that you are ready for a busy wrap season if you are in the Northern Hemisphere.    Some very exciting news for TWI is that we have agreed to terms with three big names in the wrap industry to make videos in their field of expertise.   As soon as the contracts are signed they will begin to make videos and we hope to have them start appearing on the site in June.  Also, Fellers in the U.S. has given memberships to all their Fellers Certified installers.  Fellers has also become a sponsor on the site.  We are happy to be associated with Frank Fellers as he has a genuine passion for car wrapping, which TWI appreciates.

In April, the following videos were added to the library:

  • Wall Install Overview
  • Wall Install Vertical Panels
  • Aftercare Products
  • Laminating Chrome
  • Removing Side Molding
  • Extra Wide Hood with exotic film
  • Brushed Jaguar TWI commercial
  • Removing Mirrors on the Body
  • Pre-Stretch Door Handle
  • Tack Cloth
  • Problem Solving: Stuck Door Handle Lever

I am currently in route to Brazil where I will be doing demos for a manufacturer at a sign show and teaching a workshop.  I will be working with calendar film so plan to make some videos on how to apply that type of film to vehicles, which requires a different approach than cast.

Thanks as always for your support and don’t forget to submit a video if you have a cool technique or tip.  We will are getting submissions, which will go up on the site this month.  Exciting.

Thanks

-Justin

Happy May Day!

TWI would like to wish all of our constituents, a Happy May Day! As we are an international assemblage, with different holidays, languages and times zones, we all celebrate the art of wraps, the language of wrinkles, and the time to wrap is always relative. So we place our hands together and applaud to each and every one of you who strives to be the best and achieve the highest levels of your profession. May the colors of the blooming flowers spill upon the films and may your squeegees paint the world one stroke at a time!

December Letter From Justin!

Hello everyone, this is Justin.
I hope that everyone had a relaxing holiday season and that 2014 is a great one. December marks the first full month The Wrap Institute was online. As the site takes shape new videos are always being added.
In December, the following videos were uploaded:
  • IR Heater,
  • Sometimes
  • Overlaps are OK,
  • Making Glass,
  • Fixing Wrinkles and Bubbles,
  • Basics of Squeegeeing,
  • Door Panel Removal,
  • Door Handle Inlays,
  • Wrinkle Free Solid Angles,
  • Tucking Behind Free Floating Windows,
  • Trimming Untrimmed Panels on Site,
  • Raised Objects: Door Handles,
  • Post Install Tips,
  • Efficiency for Installs,
  • 15% Rule of Thumb,
  • Deep Recessed Areas: Roofs,
  • Wrapping Door Handles Off the Vehicle,

  • License Plate with Painted Molding
  • Speedwrap Xtra.
For January, on slate is to add videos on deep recessed areas, compound curves, the technique of leeching for bumpers and deep recessed lights, cutting techniques, motorcycles, window tinting, laptops and much more. As the site takes shape, the tool section will have more details and links for where to buy tools. The resource page will be fully functioning within days and will be a great way to find information on a wide variety of topics including workshops.
One aspect that I’m very excited about is the chance for you, a Wrap Institute member, to upload your own video or photo. This is a great opportunity to help build the content on the site, promote yourself or your company and to win prizes. So far, the prizes for videos, which are awarded twice a year, are: 25 yards of Avery SWF (any finish except chrome), 8 rolls of Knifeless Tape, one Makita heat gun, one complete Croftgate Wrap Care system and I’m working on a free spot in one of my Avery SWF workshops in North America.
Needless to say thanks for your membership and always feel free to contact us with suggestions or issues you have on the site. I hope that you find the site informative and that it helps create higher profits and better workflow.
Cheers!
Justin

Welcome To The Wrap Institute

The Wrap Institute is poised to be the most comprehensive vinyl wrap installation and resource library in the industry. It was developed not only to make a good installer great and a great installer more professional but also to be a place to find tools for installing at a level that will impress the best and shock the rest. It is also a resource to find a supplier near you who carries the films you prefer using and to discover films you never knew were available. We are in the middle of building this massive, ever-growing archive.
