December 1 Newsletter

I hope everyone had a great November and that you enjoyed the videos released this month.

New videos in November:

SEMA turned out to be better than expected with lots of installers on hand as well as great wraps being completed during the show. There are already some very cool plans in the works for next year so look out for upcoming details.

Knifeless Tech Systems videos will continue into December as they are launching their new CPR and PPF lines which I think will be major game changers for both the wrap and PPF industries.

There are around 60 new videos that have been shot and edited so, as has been the trend for the past two months, look for a brand new video to be released every day during the work week for the foreseeable future. We have scheduled new videos to post at midnight Central time U.S. so enjoy it with your morning coffee or lunch, depending on where you are in the world.

Thanks as always for being a member and we hope that 2015 finishes strong with a touch of relaxation with friends and family over the holidays.

Cheers
Justin

September 1 Newsletter

Hello everyone – a great month of videos for August, which is just a taste of what is in store for the fall line up:

  • Joffrey van der Jagt - marketing, Knifeless Tape, headlight removal and custom color-change tips.
  • TWI Exclusive - 54-minute color-change speedwrap in real time.
  • Chrome tips, full print install tips, and more.

18 New Videos added in August:

As you may have noticed in your library, you now have access to unlimited PDF downloads. Currently, you can download pre-inspection sheets, an installation overview checklist (a game changer for sign shops and installers) and a client care file for the rearview mirror (this PDF was provided by TWI member Guy Langevin from Ask Guy in Canada) in seven languages. More to come in the coming months!

The fall line up is going to really take the TWI video platform to another level, starting with a realtime color-change speedwrap with top installers from MOB (Masters of Branding) and a week with Joffrey van der Jagt from Pro Wraps. Late September will have a full week of full print install tips, and we have more than 80 new videos in the pipeline to round out the following weeks, including an overview of SEMA to bookshelf it. Exciting stuff!

The site is streaming faster than ever due some key tweaks behind the scenes with a lot of new changes to the site in the coming months. Thanks as always for being a member and keep wrapping it up.

Cheers,
Justin

SD Media Chrome Wrap

Jose Suastez and the SD Media crew out of Tucson, Arizona, submitted this slick chrome wrap.

Type of vinyl used: Avery Chrome

Tools used:

  • Avery application gloves
  • Geek wrap chrome soft edge squeegees
  • Geek wrap wrap juice (makes chrome wraps scratch free)

Technique used: We followed the tutorial on chrome wrap + the chrome license plate constant heat advised on the chrome video.

Design inspiration: This wrap was a nice challenge for us as the customer was very skeptical of our skill. He visited two other sign shops here in town and they did not want to do it. One shop tried and failed miserably. The owner even told him, "Please do not tell anyone we did this" (the secret is safe with us). So here we are my crew and I, looking at it and thinking: Bring It On! The result was great. No whitening, no wrinkles and a nice clean application.

We parked it in front of our shop after we were done and four new clients came to us thanks to this wrap. This wrap ended up being a money/client magnet and a great affirmation for us. With the great tutorials from TWI we did it and we did it right!

Check them out online and on their Facebook page.

Wrapscon was a huge success on many levels. Too much to address in a newsletter so please watch all the videos. Thanks to everyone who donated material and tools, along with everyone who helped out with the booth.

29 New Vids Added in June:

I want to address any issues people have been having with submitting help tickets on issues regarding renewing memberships and signing in. I have personally reviewed all responses by The Wrap Institute team since January 1st and see that all tickets have been responded to within 24 hours. However, I know that some of you have submitted several tickets on the same topic as it seems that no response was made. My first thought on this is that the responses from TWI might be ending up in junk mail. So I ask that if you submit a ticket, check your junk/spam folder before sending another ticket. I understand the frustration of not hearing back right away on a topic so I will be meeting with the team to see how responses can be made even quicker.

Exciting times ahead for The Wrap Institute and the industry.  Thank you for your continued support and happy wrapping in July.

Justin

Press Release - TWI at Wrapscon

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MARCH 10, 2015

The Wrap Institute to Host Interactive Booth for Wrapscon at The NBM B.I.G. Show
TWI Offers a Full Schedule of Demonstrations and Hands-On Applications with Master Installer, Justin Pate

The Wrap Institute (TWI) is excited to announce a partnership with National Business Media (NBM) to bring interactive wrap instruction to Wrapscon in Indianapolis, IN, June 4 - 6, 2015. The Wrap Institute will host a large booth containing many different surfaces for wrapping demonstrations including a jet, a boat, appliances, a hood, a door with recessed areas, and a wooden door. Demonstrations will be scheduled for each hour of the show. Justin Pate, Jeb Breitzke and Certified Installers from Car Wrap City will also provide demonstrations for installing various types of film, and Matt Richart and Dallas Fowler will talk about how to price jobs and design.

By shows-end the jet and boat will be fully wrapped in full print vinyl design. Mutoh will print the jet wrap and the film used will be Avery Dennison 1005 EZRS with 1460 DOL. Roland will print the boat wrap and the film used will be 3M IJ180 with 8518 lamination.

Alongside the set wrap demonstration schedule, The Wrap Institute will also have a wrap area open for hands-on application throughout the show for anyone who wants to participate. Installers or those interested in learning how to install vinyl wrap are welcome to come by. Many different types of material will be available to test, including gloss, matte and carbon Avery Dennison, 3M, Oracal, Hexis, General Formulations, Alltak Tuning and KPMF vinyl. There will also be a wide variety of tools from Yello Tools, Geek Wraps, Image One and Avery Dennison to try out and compare. The Wrap Institute is a neutral platform, so all activities are focused on learning and sharing techniques, as well as creating a unique chance for installers to try different materials and tools on a variety of objects in one location.

Along with providing demos in the TWI booth, Justin Pate will be giving two speedwrapping demos per day in the Mutoh/Fellers booth. Justin, along with Charles Trujillo and the crew from Carbon Wraps, will be wrapping Frank Feller’s Audi with a variety of different types of films and finishes. The intent is to show top quality installs with high efficiency using only three installers, good techniques and the right material.

We hope that you can make it to Wrapscon and come by the TWI booth to wrap and learn it up.
