When it comes to pricing wraps, finding the perfect balance between speed, quality, and safety can be tricky. Too often, installers rush to get the job done quickly, risking costly mistakes. But quality and safety should never be compromised. Investing in the right tools and techniques not only protects the vehicle but also ensures the installer’s safety. By making smart investments, you can speed up your workflow, avoid damaging the car, and deliver top-quality results every time.
Bigger is always better, right? Not necessarily. Partial wraps can actually be more profitable than full coverage wraps. For commercial wraps, they can avoid the time-consuming areas like bumpers, door handles and mirrors, while for PPF installations, a partial wrap often focuses on high-wear areas like door handle cups, the front of fenders, hood and the top of the bumper. Less material and a lower price point mean quicker installs, leaving room for higher volume, and ultimately, higher profit margins.
How much should you charge for color change wraps? At TWI, we recommend charging 10% to 20% more for vehicles that aren't black or dark gray. Why? Black and dark gray vehicles are easier to wrap, as the dark paint mimics shadows at the edges. Other colors require extra work to wrap further into the body, which increases prep and installation time. It’s an easy adjustment that helps account for the extra effort and keeps your pricing accurate.
One of the best ways to handle deep recessed areas on vans is to not wrap them at all! This is where the "Cut and Drop" technique comes in. It ensures durability and efficiency by avoiding potential failures. While it delivers excellent results, some clients may still want the film fully formed in. No problem! At TWI, we suggest offering both options with clear pricing differences - standard for cut and drop and higher for fully formed - ensuring a win-win for both clients and wrap shops.
